INTO A WINDOW
A MOTORIST'S ALTERNATIVE.
"Any old port in a storm " is said to be an ancient nautical motto, but motorists under stress .of conditions sometimes, find it necessary to head into plate-glass windows in order to save life. Such an incident occurred in Vivian street yesterday. A motorist was passing along the street, when he swerved to avoid two children who ran out of the alleyway. He had barely passed these two youngsters when a couple of others suddenly emerged from another passageway on the opposite side of the road. To have continued, on would have endangered safety of the children, and to iivoJfl an accident the motorist had no alternative but to drive over the pavement. _ This manoeuvro .he accomplished with disastrous results to the plate-glass window of a furniture shop, which was badly smashed.
