MIRAMAR V. MASTERTON

THE CHAMPION BEATEN.

The golf match between the visiting '' team from Masterton Club and Miramar representaffves was continued on Saturday afternoon, under most trying conditions, in a high wind which chilled the players. In the morning Masterton lost all matches, and iv the singles in the. afternoon Miramar won thirteen games and Masterton three, and one was halved. The sensational result of the day was the defeat of J. C. Bidwill, the ■ Wellington provincial chamippu, by J. H. Drake, Miramar's first player, who managed to get home one up after aclose hard fight, in which the honours varied throughout, and neither player -was more than one up at any stage.
