On Saturday afternoon, Captain' Edwin T. Pollock, Governor of American Sajiioa. who arrived at Auckland last week by the United States patrol ship Ontario. The First Aid Class, held under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Association at Plimmerton (lecturer, Dr. Wright, of Johnsonfille), has just been completed, by Dr. Simcox holding the examination. Twenty-five residents were enrolled, and ten sat for examination. Eight passed) in the following order:— Miss Vella and Miss Gardener in grade "excellent"; Mr. Beckett, Miss Gallop, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Brady, Miss Brice, and Miss Walker, equal. A home nursing class is now being enrolled, to commence in June, Mr. Dallaston kindly taking the names. These i classes are both held in connection with the Wellington Nursing Division, and it is hoped to form a new division, to be called the Plimmerton Nursing Division, when tile home nursing class is completed. Thanks are due to Mr. Dallaston for his willing assistance in starting tho work in Plimmerton, and to Mr. Beckett for help in the work.

It was agreed at a reoent meeting of the Red Cross Peace Time Committee, that as the society had been approached by the church authorities in connection with the coming exhibition in regard to health and nursing which would be made a. feature of that function, the committee would gladly accord approval of Dr. Morgan and Sister Lewis co-oper-ating With the church authorities in every wa# possible.

Sister Lewis, the Bed Cross nursing sister, reported upon the work done, during the month to the Peace 'Time Activity Committee, as follows: There still existed evidence of considerable distress occasioned by sickness and unemployment jn families. A number of such cases had been reported to her. These had been carefully investigated, and were receiving attention in the way,of warm garments and food for the children. By arrangement of the principals of the secondary schools, an instruction in home nursing was being continued, and large numbers attended. The classes displayed a very keen enthusiasm for.the work. Health talks in accordance with the Red Cross curriculum were being given, and were proving not Only educative but very popular. Junior circles had been formed by a number of the schools; crimary and secondary. On all sides the children displayed, keenness to take cart in the junior Bed Cross work, which is one oi unselfish service to others, so that boys and girls *f New Zealand will not be backward in plavintr their part in tile great iunior Red Cross movement of the world, in which all civilised nations are engaged under humanity's banner) the emblem of the Red .Cross.

The Garden Cirole of the Pioneer Club will hold a chrysanthemum show at the club on 'Wednesday afternoon, when prizes will be given, not only for chrysanthemums," but for other flowers, and for floral devices, including a trimmed hat, to be adorned with natural flowers. Five new members have joined through the year, and thirteen probationary members.
