KARORI v. HUIA.

A fast and cloaely-contested game on Karon Park, between Huia and Karori. resulted in a victory for the wearers of the Black jersey, by 1 goal to nil. Huia, with a team which was far from the best they could place in the field, were very unlucky in not being able to hold tho visually aggressive Karori men, to a draw. Guy and Staoey were the only senior forwards in the team, and the other players, who consisted mainly of those who had been temporarily promoted from the third grade, could not, under the circumstanoea, be expected to show senior-grade form. However, what th«y lacked in combination, they more than compensated for in dash and condition, and it was only bad' luck which prevented them from scoring. Pen-in, the exrepresentative full-back, played well for Karori, -.but ha was caught nappingl on one occasion, when Guy pushed the ball between his legs, and, oarrying on w«U, was only prevented from scoring by the prompt action of Moore, the goalkeeper. Huia's half-line performed exceptionally well, especially H. Diaper, who played a splendid all-round game and proved that, in spite of his lack of poundage, he can shoot with great speed and force. Cartwright played his usual safe game at fullback, and Roberts was always where he was wanted in goal, the only shot to pass him being one- which it would hav# been almost impossible to stop. \ He invariably "cleared" very cleanly. Two promoted juniors, Cooper and Roberts, again did well for Karori, but Heaphy, at centre-forward, and Watchman, on the left win, apparently were having a "day-off," and were rather disappointing. The latter missed several shots after getting the ball into a good scoring position. ■ Henderson, at half, played a sound and enterprising game, and Perrin, at full-back, did all that was expected of him, except on the one occasion already mentioned. The most notable feature of his play is the cool way in which he clears the ball. Spiers, on the full-back line, and Moore, in ■goal, also were very reliable. Play was well controlled by Mr. W. Keys.-
