The Autumn Meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club is. set down for. decision tomorrow and Thursday. Judging by the excellent acceptances received, the club should have a good meeting. Queen's March, Tukia, and Owlscombe have all incurred the maximum penalty of 141b in the Sires' Produce Stakes. Deluge has escaped any extra weight, and, on his form at Ellerslie and Trentham, may keep his opponents busy.

Quest, a place-getter in the Thompson, is in the Prince of Wales Handicap, nine furlongs; also Scotch Mixture, the Feilding double winner, and Correspondent, who pulled off the principal event at Rangitikei.

The Awapuni Gold Cup should provide an' interesting contest between the three-year-olds Highland, Many Kittle, and Enthusiasm, and Thespian. Martulla, top weight in the Linton Hack Handicap, has only three pounds more than she won with at Feilding. She is asked to concede two stone to Eedlogue, who was placed behind the deadheaters on the opening day at Trentham. • ■

A 101b penalty for the Trentham win will bring Mireusonta's weight up to 8.13 for the Telegraph Handicap. If an apprentice rider is put up he will get off with less. Other Trentham placegetters engaged are Lucius and Triboulet. The Manawatu Stakes, six "furlongs, comes up for decision on the second day. ' Those engaged include Tamatete and Thespian, who raa first and second twelve months ago.

The latter,-'a., useful, Gisborne. performer, .is at presentTresttihg:'" '';:;; ' Gay Juliet, was not engaged at Awapuni, and was shipped South last night. Besides W. Hobbs, R. Jr Mason, E. Ellis, and D. P. Wilson also took South the horses they raced at Trentham. D. Kemp, who formerly trained Patuki, took him back to Hastings with his other horses on Monday.

Followers of local horses had what was probably the worst time they have ever experienced at a Trentham Meeting. During the two days thirty-eight Trentham-trained horses started fiftythree times. Their record was one second and three thirds. The horses that got in the money were Last Crust, second and third, which latter position was also filled by Quest and Dominant, The total amount of stake money that fell to local owners was 320 soys out of a total of 10,250.
