The United Kingdom Alliance reports j that th« nation's drink bill for 1922 totalled 3364,000,000, compared -with £402,750,000 for 1921, working out at £12 10s per adult. The decline waa attributable to unemployment, reduced wages, and the high price of drinks. ! During January and February of this year, states the' report, 228,685 proof gallons of spirits were sent to the West Indies for the purpose of smuggling into the United States. For the same two months in 1922 80,000 proof gallons only went to the West Indies.
