PORT NICHOLSON BAND.
To-morrow/night at the Grand Opera' House the Port Nicholson Band, under the auspices of the Wellington Harbour Board, will give its second recital of the season, when a delightful programme will be given. The management has been fortunate in securing Mrs. R. J. Wildish, Gisborne's cultured soprano, who will-be heard in "A Harbour Night Song." Another performer. to make a first appearance-at a Sunday recital will be.Mr. E. M. Hyman, who is to play an excerpt from "Samson et Delilah." Little Thelma Carroll, the popular elocutionist and holder of over 50 medals and 30 certificates, will recite "An Old Romance." Mr. Ernest Jones, a Wellington baritone, has chosen the prologue from "Pagliacci" as his item. Mr. Frank Crowther will act as accompanist. The band items have been carefully selected, and will include the hymn "Fierce Raged the Tempest," overture "Beautiful Galatea," an euphonium solo, "Star of Eve," by Bandsman T. Ovens, and a trombone solo, "The Parachute," by Sergeant J. Glennie. A magnificent arrangement of Sullivan's operas and a fine march "Wellington " t will also be played by the band.
