MANNEQUIN PARADES

A mannequin "parade was held at Messrs. Kirkcaldie ->and Stains'a last evening,- when fashionably attired young ladias submitted to a crowded attendance the latest novelties in dress creations. The parade ran from sports frocks to bridal array,, and in all departments ideas worth following and adopting were pained. In the evening frock section the new tight bodice and full skirt were emphasised, and silver lace with pink, blue embroidered in gold, a black georgette with crimson sleeve drapings, blue georgette with plush wrap in the same shade, showed how simple it is to 'secure an attractive model, by the combination of harmonious colours. One in shot pink had an uncommon black lace cape. There were all kinds of dainty accessories, including -gorgeous fans; afternoon frocks in velvet, marocain, and crepe-de : chine; handsome furs and capes ; a very smarta walking suit was in navy gabardine with scarlet and gold relief on frock and detachable cape. Ideas for .brides, covered a wide range, the exhibited model being of ivory georgette and radium lace, a novelty being the peasant girl arrangement of the graceful veil. Hats were of velvet and brocade, and were of all shapes and sizes, mostly of the chic variety with •upstanding mounts or softly drooping rjlumes.'

It appears that fashion parades are not only of interest to women, but that men are also attracted was shown by the sprinklincr of males who visited the D.I.C. last night to view the exhibit of models. Exquisitely toned textures were shown —chiffons, laces, and cobweb materials vicing for favour. The main entrance, with its cherry blossoms and Oriental 6haded lights, served'as a "whisper" of the many beauties within. Panne and miroir velvet is used largely on gowns and' hats, brown ranging to amber being immensely popular. There is no fixed etvle or length for costumes; the coats are short and long, and the san effect and loose sleeve gives thp weaver that "comfy" look so desired. There is a new ribbed velour for coat wear, anu with fur at collar, cuffs, and heni some very effective contrasts can be made. Of course the fur coats, wraps, and stoles make a most inviting display. Copper beech is a shade much used on hats, and the vivid colouring, such as green, fuchsia, cherry, flame, and orange 'is almost startling: in its incidence. 'A new "Princess Mary" collar is in vogue in cloth, lace, or net, and is very popular. Lace berthes Rive a piquant Madonna-like effect to daring evening frocks. Pure silk in hosierr and doves; cashmere in stripes for sports wear; and silk and wool mixtures predominate ;• tweeds and blanket cloths, scintillating evening gowns make a ravishim display.
