MYERSON LIBEL CASE
APPEAL LODGED AGAINST VERDICT.

An appeal has been lodged on behalf of Emanuel Myerson against the verdict of the jury in the "Smith's Weekly" libel action. It is estimated that the costs will total £12,000. [Emanuel Myerson, a large propertyowner, of Sydney, sued "Smith's Weekly" Publishing Co. for £10,000 damages, for alleged libel, the defendants declaring that the statements published by them were fair comment and for, the public benefit. The pry gave a majority verdict for the defendant company on sth April, at which time plaintiff asked for and was granted a stay of proceedings.]
