A new toacher in the elementary school at Connowitz (Germany) happened to mention England during a lesson, and was surprised to see all his pupils spit.-on the floor. "Have you gone mad?"' he asked, according to the ."Leipzigcr Montag," which records the incident. "No, sir," answered the class, and the top boy exclaimed:—"When our right teacher is hore we all have to spit on tho floor every time we hear the words, Franco, England, or. Italy."
