Bruce, addressing the newly-formed Consuls and Trade Commissioners' Association, said that Australia's destiny lay • in the Pacific, but they must remember that round the shores of the Pacific were concentrated the great b»lk of the people of the world, comprising different races of different colours, with different ideals. He advocated a League or Union of Nations of the Pacific- to give an opportunity for all peoples who had interests in the Pacific to come' together and frankly discuss their problems, including the important problem of surplus population.
