WOOL SALE
SMALL CATALOGUE AT CHRISTCHURCH. (BI TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 12th April. The fifth wool sale of the season was held to-day, when a small catalogue of 3560 bales was offered. There was a good attendance of buyers, English, American, Continental, and local houses being represented. A few lines of back station merino were offered, but generally the catalogue was comprised of odd lots, and being an end of the season sale the wool was not in such good condition as that offered at earlier sales. There was little competition from local mills, bidding being confined mostly to Bradford and Continental, buyers. A* a result of lack of competition from local mills, merino wool snowed a decline of about Id per lb on the prices ruling at the last Christchurch sale. Fpr other classes, however, there was good competition, and prices improved, halfbred being from Id to lJid per lb better, while other sorts were a full Id better. The range of values was as under: —Merino: Super, 24d ; medium, 19d to 22d ; inferior, 16£ dto 184<3. Corriedalo: Super, 21^d to 23d; medium, 18id to 21d.
