THE LAMB TRADE

ThiV month and next a very large quantity of lamb will come on the London market, remarks "Meat and Wool." Vessels due to arrive in London have had their time-tables altered owing to local exigencies^ with the result that they are discharging within the , same limited period. Some buyers have made commitments for the season, and through the stock available undoubtedly being short, as in Canterbury, for example, have been compelled to pay higher prices than they otherwise would to get their requirements. This explains the occasional fluctuation in the^ producers' favour at some stock sales. The spring demand at Homo starts this month, and lamb price developments will be watched with interest. No doubt the market -will be fed, because it is not to the interest of purchasers who have paid high prices to allow it to be swamped by the million and a half New Zealand lamb carcases that will be in store or arriving in London in April-May.
