LOVERS DIE TOGETHER
(Received 13th April, 3 p.m.) PARIS, 12th April. Two Englishwomen, walking in the ground of an old chateau at Hyeres, near Toulon, suddenly came upon two bodies, a man shot through the heart and a woman in the temple. A search of the woman's handbag disclosed that they were two lovers who came to Hyereß for three weeks' . holiday, and exhausted their money. They decided on suicide. The girl's letter, addressed to the parents, said: " Edouard I loved passionately. We were unable to marry and afraid of growing old, and, perhaps, drifting apart. We decided to die together." In the diary under the date 10th April was the' loconic entry: "Dead."
