VISIT TO LOWER HUTT,

Commissioner and Mrs. Hoggard, of the Salvation Army, paid a visit to the Hutt Corps last night/ The Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr; W. T. Strand, welcomed the visitors to the Lower Hutt borough, and said that he hoped that this visit would not b» the last. Once, said Mr. Strand, a person was looked unon askance if he or »h« belonged to the Salvation Army, but today the Armv was loved and honoured throughout the whole world. The work of the Army in New Zealand had inoreased greatly of late, and now it was one of the greatest factors towards the welfare of the country.

The final squaring-up in connection with the Wanganui carnival and shoppine week held immediately prior to Easter was made yesterday, when the revenue was shown to be £1000 and the •xpendjitura £750. Instead of the guarantors being called upon to make ur> a laps, as erroneously reported previously, tliero is a credit balance for distribution.
