NORFOLK FARM STRIKE
STRUGGLE BECOMING BITTER.
LONDON. 4th April. _ Ise . Norfolk farm workers' strike is becoming more bitter. Bands of strikers, armed with sticks, are patrolling the northern area, singing the "Red Flag." The farmers have obtained police protection, and many are carrying shot-guns. The intimidation of labourers continues. On one farm a. band of over 200 strikers ordered the men to cease work, and chased them across the field. Policemen are now accompanying the strikers. '
One^farmer declined to withdraw his labourers, but offered 'to' settle the argument with any single striker by fisticuffs, declaring he was willing to back himself at twenty to one. When the challenge was not accepted he placed a £5 note in a box the men carried for the relief of children. The strikers withdrew.
