Sir John Luke, M.P., and Lady Luke returned to Wellington last evening from a visit to the Auckland district.

Mr. Kan Hing, a student Chinese Consul, arrived to take up his duties in Wellington by the -Ulimaroa yesterday.

Mr. Harry M'Keown.of the Engineer's Office, Railway Department. Greymouth, accompanied by Mrs. and Miss M.'Keown, left for the South last night.

Mr. John FulleT, jun., and Mrs. Fuller, and Mr. Ben Fuller (son of Sir. Benjamin Fuller) left to-day for Rotorua and Auckland, en rout© to Sydney.

Captain Macintosh Ellis, Director of the forestry Department, has returned to Wellington from a visit to the. Urewera, district with its 60,000 acres of forest covering, extremely rough and broken country. ■

The Hon. W. Nosworthy, Minister of Agriculture, has returned to Wellington from the South Island. The Minister of Defence, Hon. Sir R. Henton Rhodes, who is engaged on departmental business in the Canterbury district, is: expected back at the end of the week.

Dr. .Roland Wilson, who last year pawed his final medical examination at Edinburgh University, has accepted an appointment at Leith Hospital.- Dr. Wilson is a son of Mr. Peter Wilson, of Tainui terrace, and was formerly a student at Mount Cook Boys' School, Wellington College, and Victoria College.

Mr. T. G. Queree (Wellington) has been two months on the Continent, dividing his time between Italy and Southern France,' writes "The Post's" London correspondent, under date 27th February. He spent Christmas at St. Moritz, where he thoroughly enjoyed the winter sports. While in Italy, especially in Milan, he attended many of. the operas, and was very much impressed with the beautiful stage settings and lighting effects at La Scala. Mr. Queree had previously seen very line productions of opera in Munich^ Dresden, and Berlin, but nothing\equal for sheer lavishness of beauty to La Scala productions. •
