(Received Bth March, 10 a.m.) . LONDON, 7th March. * The death is announced of James Jebusa Shannon, the well-known portrait painter. [James Jebusa Shannon was born in New York in 1862, and went to England in 1878, working at the South Kensington Art School for three years, where he was successful in winning various prizes. His first successful portrait was that of the Hon. Horatio Stopford, painted. in 1881. Since then.he has painted many notable portraits and a few subject pictures. At the time of his death he was president of the Society of Portrait Painters.]
