EASTBOURNE CARNIVAL CORONATION.
On Saturday, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., will perform the crowning ceremony in connection with the recent carnival held at Eastbourne, when Miss Gladys Russell, candidate nominated by the Eastbourne Rugby Football Club, was successful in defeating three other representative candidates. The ceremony is to be of a spectacular character, special attention having been paid to the dresses of the queen-elect, her maids of honour, and the pages and courtiers. Special coronaton music will be played by the Scottish Society's Pipe Band, which will be at full strength. The ferry manager notifies that extra boats will be run in connection with the ferry 1 service, boats leaving between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2.30 p.m., all of which will be in time for the ceremony. Special excursion fares are" also arranged for. Should the weather prove unpropitious, the function will be postponed, and a flag to notify this decision will be flown at the Ferry Wharf. In the evening a carnival coronation ball takes place in the Eastbourne pavilion.
