BLOC AGAINST BRITAIN
AMERICA NOT INDIFFERENT.
(Received sth March, 10 a.m.)
LONDON, 4th March,
The "Daily Telegraph's" diplomatic correspondent understands that in connection with tile recent agitation in the French Press for a Continental bloc, a purely private and informal, but none the less pointed hint' was conveyed to M. Poinqare from an American quarter, suggesting that the United States could not remain indifferent at this juncture to any' European move, which seemed to be directed against Britain. American concern was not exclusively a matter of sentiment. Britain was at present the only debtor discharging at. great sacrifice her obligations to .the United States and reducing -her armaments in a pacific spirit. Were any menaces to Britain to arise, it would b© necessary for her to increase her armaments. Her capacity for repayment, would, therefore, be impaired.
