MR. HUNTER'S POSITION

(BI TBLHGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

CHRIBTCHURCH, This Day. ' The candidature of' Mr. Hiram Hunter for the position of workers' member on the Arbitration Court is regarded by many Labour men as almost certain to be successful. Replying to criticism, Mr. Hunter' says that he was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on a charge which alleged a breach of the War Regulations. However, it was a political offence, and not a crime, and the Act disqualifies from holding a position on the Court only persons "who have committed crimes for which the punishment is imprisonment with hard labour for six months or upwards "
