LIQUOR AFTER HOURS
DRASTIC SUPERVISION NEEDED,
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
PALMERSTON N., This Day. At a meeting of the Licensing Committee, Mr. Stout, S.M., brought under the notice of the police a number of complaints received concerning the sale of intoxicating liquors after honrs. The complaint, he said, had been made that at least four local hotels were carrying on. the practice. The Bench was of opinion that it was a serious matter, and it was time something was. done to check it. Senior-Sergeant Fraser said the police inspect the hotels regularly. There had been prosecutions quite recently. The hotels were kept under constant supervision. Mr. Stout: "Yes, but what is-wanted is drastic supervision."
