The third rac« in the Sanders Cup series resulted-: Rona 1, Linnet 2; Winifred 3, Murihiku 4, Eynin 5. The finishing times were: Rona 12hrs 34min 45sec; Linnet, 12hrs 38min 45sec; Winifred, 12hrs 39min lsec; Murihiku, 12hrs 45min Msec; Eynin, 12hrs 52min 16sec. A fresh easterly breeze prevailed, with a jumpy sea, and heavy rain fell towards the finish. After the first mile Rona assumed the lead, and held it to the finish.
The racing conditions provide that all boats shall engage in the first three races, and that the winners of these three races shaJl sail in a further series until one of the competitors- secured three wins. Having failed in the first three races to secure a first place, the Wellington boat, Eyi;n, is now eliminated from the contest, together with the Winifred, the Otago representative. The destination of the trophy will now be decided between Linnet (Canterbury), Murihiku (Southland), and Rona (Auckland).
