The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Kemuera, which arrived at Auckland from London and Southampton on Saturday, is making her first' voyage since she was nearly sunk in collision with the steamer Mai-eugo during the thick of a fog in the English Channel in. July last. During the Eemuera's prolonged stay in England for repairs she was converted from a coal to an oil-burner. She is the first steamer burning oil fuel to leave England for New Zealand. The improvement is, noticeable in many. ways. In the first place her steaming power has increased about 30 knots a day, shortening the voyage from England to New Zealand by at least four days. The absence of coal has made her much cleaner both at sea and in port. The Belnuera now bunkers four times on a round voyage from England to New Zealand. The tanks are first filled up at London; at Colon, Panama, an additional quantity is loaded, aud at Wellington the tanks are replenished sufficiently to last to Panama, where they are again filled. Another steamer belonging to the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Rotorua, Is being converted to an oil-burner. The Rotorua, which was formerly named the Shropshfre, is the largest of the company's steamers, being 12,464 tons' or 118S tons larger than the Remuera. She is to sail from London and Southampton about the end of March with passengers and cargo for New Zealand. WITH SAN FRANCISCO CARGO. Messrs. Burns, Philp, and Co. advise that the West Cahokia was to leave Auckland today for Wellington to continue discharge of cargo from San Francisco. ■ Tlio vessel is expected here on Saturday. The West Caliokia is to sail from Wellington on Tuesday evening .for Australian ports. CUMBERLAND'S LOADING. Continuing Homeward loading the Cumberland is to leave Napier to-morrow for Gisborne, Tokotnaru Bay, and Wellington. She is expected at Wellington on the 9th February, andMs to sail on the 11th February for Lyttelton to complete her cargo. The vessel is to sail finally from Lyttelton for Hull, London, and Antwerp, via Montevideo and Las Palmas. LOADING FOR HOME PORTS. The steamer Bembridge is due here tomorrow morning from Napier. She is to sail on Monday or Tuesday for Lyttelton to complete her cargo for London, Dunkirk, and Hull.
