DROWNED IN FLOOD
TWO BODIES RECOVERED,

CHRISTCHUROH, 29th January. What is thought to be a dual flood fatality occurred to-day near Lake Coleridge. Miss Elizabeth Irwin, aged 24 years, and Charleg Jessep, 19 years, a son of the manager of the Glen Faliheh station, are believed to have been swept away and drowned in the flooded Wilberforce River They left the station in a trap for Lake Coleridge. The trap and the. dead horse were recovered later, ,but there was no sign of the occupants.
CHRISTCHURCH, 30th January. The bodies of the two people drowned in the Wilberforce River yesterday have been recovered. The name of the man who was drowned was George Good, not Charles Jessep, as at first reported. Good was 22 years, of age, and belonged to Ashburton.
To-morrow night a welcome and recognition social to Rev. C. Hawke; of South Australia., who has accepted the pastorate of Trinity Congregational Church, will be held nt Lower Hutt at 8.15 p.m.
