WELLINGTON REGATTA

'Arrangements for what promises tos te-the biggest rowing regatta Held in Wellington for some time are now well in hand by the Regatta Club. Until the" present year the regatta was controlled by the local association, but it was found that at the busiest period of the._seaspj} regatta arrangements occupied most of the association's time, and other—important matters.required to. be shelved. As a consequence the Regatta Club wa6 formed, and although activities have only' just started, quite a number of members have been .obtained, „ and is is expected jjhat large numbers of old rowing" men will take this opportunity of assisting the committee to make the regatta a;:success. Rowing is fast coming- back into its own, as the fine races witnessed in the interclub regatta on Saturday showed, and given fine weather on.. the 24th February some good exhibitions of this sport will be seen. To idd gfeater interest to the regatta, the Bowing Association has decided to hold the; an nilanuetrF.wt fPipt£B M the annual interprovincial four-oar championship of New Zealand on the same date, when some of New Zealand's finest'oarsmen will be seen in action.

Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. will sell builders and cabinetmakers' sundries at their mart, at 10.30 to-morrow; and at 1.30" they will sefl unclaimed cargo in their Viart. '

T.he Arbitration Court will sit in Wellington on Monday, 6th February, to make Jxtures for country business and to deal with formal and non-contentious business. ■Wellington City business will be taken at >later date.
