The weather was fine and the wicket good for the resumption of the Sheffield Shield cricket match, New Soiith Wales v. Victoria.
The New South Wales score in the first innings was 560 (Kippas 197, Hendry 93, Mailey 20 not out). Wallace took three wickets for, 104, and Ryder three for 103. ' • Victoria in their second innings have lost four wickets for 88 runs (BensEoid 36, Woodfiill 24). Hendry and Kippax gave a .masterly display, tiie partnership at one stage putting on 107 in 79 minutes. Frequent changes in the bowlers were unavailingly made in the first 50 minutes; five bowlers being used, and Hartkopf twice. Headry's innings occupied 132 minutes. He hit nine 4's, his partnership with. Kippax adding 168. Th-3 latter played ;v remarkably brilliant innings. His timing was superb, and his placing of a very W(fa order. He was at the wickets '319 minutes, and hit twenty-one 4's and eight 3's. He gave chances at SO- and 170.
Victoriu opened -&OT second innings badly, the first wictefc falling when the score vtna at 10 nf4 the seaond when IS had been reached.
