GALE ARRIVES AT . LYTTELTON.

A Press Association message from Lyttelton states that the Canterbury Company's new steamer Gale arrived at that pqrt at 8.5 p.m. on' Saturday from London, via Panama. The dale "is to go into dock for overhaul, and will later commence running in the WellingtonWanganui and southern ports cargo service.

REPAIRS TO THE EOBERT R. HIND

In consequence of damage sustained during heavy weather on her voyage from Belliugham Bay,' Washington, U.S.A., to Wellington, the schooner Robert R. Hind is now detained in Wellington undergoing repairs to her fore and after holds. Shortly after leaving Bellingham Bay the schooner started leaking in the after hold, and later a leak was discovered in the forward hold. Temporary repairs were effected forward by opening the inner skin and blocking the leak with cement. The vessel lias been surveyed at Wellington, and repairs have been put in hand. It is. hoped to despatch the "Robert R. Hind fot Adelaide at the end of the wee!:.

THE'PICTON SERVICE.

The Union Company advises that the steamer Wainui will leave Wellington at noon on Wednesday for Picton, but will omit-the usual Friday trip. The vessel is to leave Wellington instead rat S a.m. on Saturday, and will return to Wellington the same.evening. «

WANGARATTA TO LOAD. ■

Tne Tew Zealand Shipping Company's liner Wangaratta is expected at Auckland from Australia on the Hth February for loading. The vessel will load also at Whakatane, Tokoinaru Bay, and Wellington, and should sail finally from here for Home at the end of February or the beginning of March.
