.AUCKLAND, 28th January. The Auckland provincial tennis tour* nament was continued yesterday, Fr«quent heavy showers interfered with play, rendering the courts very heavy. The Naw South Wales ladies won all their matches. Miss Knight succeeded in taking a- set from Miss Lance; the scores being 6-0, 6-8, 6-3. # Tn the ladies' doubles, Mies Gray and Mrs. Lascelles and Misses Witherow and Ramsay had an interesting contest. After the visitors had won the first set, 6-1, their opponents ran them to six-all j jn the second set, but the Australians took the next two games and the match. ■ Sims, present singles champion, dototed Fotherington with the loss of four games in the second round, gf the men's singles. In the first roun<l of. the combined doubles, Horae and Mrs. Lascelles beat Keith and Mrs. Hogben, 7-5, 7-5. It was a strenuous game, with little to choose between the couples,, who found it hard playing on the heavy courts. Details of the play are as follow ;— LADIES' SINGLES.'
