CONFERENCE ADJOURNS
UNTIL AFTER CHRISTMAS,
A further conference took place yesterday afternoon between representatives of the Shipowners' Federation and the Seamen's "Union, and after some discussion it .was agreed to postpone the proceedings' until 29th December, as the seamen's, delegates from other ports desired to get 'back to their homes for the holidays. Prospects for a settlement of. the trouble are now considered to be somewhat brighter than they were a few daya ago, but it is understood that tho parties are still at variance over the condition which the shipowners desire to impose regarding the retention of the services of the non-unionists who are considered to be qualified seamen' and firemen. . ,
