LEVIN AND CO.

Messrs. Levin and Co. report as follows:—Our catalogue was a good one, many of the best Wairarapa and Manawafo clips being in evidence, and making a good showing. Bidding wae keen and competition strong throughout, and we sold 96 per cent, of our catalogue under the hammer. America was operating for super Jots of fine and medium crossbreds, but 1 apparently at less elastic limits than in November. One or two choice lota maintained 'November prices, but the bulk of the wool suitable for this trade had to find a market at a lower range possibly to the extent of.ld per lb. For average qualities of medium, low, and coarse crossbred there was strong competition from Bradford and the Continent and prices advanced fully Id ail round. This:is where the. bulk of the wool lies, and consequently the , advance is very satisfactory. Tho Dominions mills were eager buyers of Southdown, half-breds, and the small quantity of morinos offering and secured the bulk of the supplies at an advance on last sale rates. Southdown sold as high as 21d. Lambs' wool was also competed for by the Dominion mills against France and Bradford. The quality offering was not particularly good, as early shorn lambs have no length of staple. The best bids reached 14d to 14|d. Bellies and pieces found a good market at id to Id advance. Any superior lots were sold to local mills. Crutchings were half-penny higher than last month. Some of our realisations were as follows : — '
