TIMARTJ, This Day. The Spring Meeting of the.South Canterbury Jockey Club opened to-day. The weather was dull and threatening,' and light rain .was falling, before the first race! There was a large attendance. Results :—-
Otaio Hurdles, of 160 soys; one mile and a half.—All Serene, 9.3, 1; Mystico, 10.0, 2; Claverhouse, 9.13, 3./ Scratched: Bill Terry. Won by half a. length. Time, 2min 45 l-ssec.
Spring Stakes, 0f,,. 140 soys; five furlongs.—Brown Willie* 8.8, 1; Courcelette, 8.5, 2; Saintly Dreamer, 7.6, 3. Scratched: Picaitniny, Shandre. Won by half' a length. Time, lmin 2sec.
Teschemaker Handicap, of 400, soys; six furlongs.—Royal Mac, 8.13, 1; Boadioea, 6.11, 2; Red Gown, 7.8, 3. Scratched : Nautical, Etta, and Corn Rigs. Won by a neck.
