CLOSING OF NOMINATIONS.
CONTESTS FOR ALL MAORI SEATS
Reports from 'various -sources indicate^ that the General Election campaign 6» livening up everywhere. Big meetings appear to be the irule and the supporth accorded to candidates carrying opposing}/ banners makes it very difficult to forecast' results. In many electorates' the possi* bility of serious vote-splitting is causing? some concern, but when the nominations-, close at noon on Monday it may ba: found that better counsels have prevailed.
• Nominations for the four Maori seats close\ at noon to-morrow, and indica-' tions point to the fact there will be atn contest 1 in ach case. The nominations for ths Eastern Maori seat to date are* Apirana Ngata, and Taranaki Te Mariiai-^; rangi. The Maori elections take placft on 6th December.
Except for the alterations made* necessary by boundary changes the polling booths will be , practically ■ the same as they were three'years.ago. In some quar-1 ters it is anticipated that a particularly,! heavy poll will be recorded on 7th De' cember next.
