SPLENDID RAINS

OAMARU, 4th November.
All fears of a drought in North Otago >Jnave passed, drenching rains having fallen during the past week. Since Labour Day the whole countryside has been transformed •from parched fields fct> brilliant green. It is estimated that about three inches of rain have fallen since the dry spell broke, and during the twenty-four hoars ending at 9 o'clock this morning over 100 points of rairi fell.
Both agriculturists and pastoralists are delighted: with the completely changed outlook, and a good season is confidently anticipated. This is the first ■real,' drenching downpour since March.' The sheep prospects are very good ; The lambing season has given the . highest percentages for many years, and in many^ flocks 130 '. per 'cent. hnVe i been tailed; All stock is looking particularly well, and the splendid rains.have put the districts in real good heart.
