TIMARU,, 4th October, the professional heavyweight fight under the auspices of the Timaru Boxing Association,* between Sid Fitzsimmons, of Timaru, and Cyril Whitaker, for a purse of £100, went the full fifteen rounds, Whitaker winning on a point in a close see-saw' boufc marked by much infighting, which - proved Wbifcaker's forte.
■In the middleweight contest, M'Phail, the mid-Canterbury amateur champion, beat Steward, the Wellington champion, who was knocked out in the third round.
