QUORUM OF COURT OF APPEAL.

Another Judicature Act Amendment Bill was introduced in the House of .Representatives yesterday afternoon by Gov-ernor-General's Message. The Minister of Justice explained that since the first Bill was introduced the Judges had considered the position, and as a result of representations made by them, it was proposed to reduce the quorum of. the Court of Appeal fromNthree to two in all cases. It was also proposed that the time given t6 the State by a temporary Judge should be taken into account in computing superannuation. By giving his services to the State, a temporary Judge saved the country a great deal of money—about half the salary of a Judge—and iit, was only right'that th« t«mporary service should count for sup. erannuation.

1 The Bill was read a first time.
