HIDES AND SKIN SALES
Tfie usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow, etc., was held yesterday. There was a large attendance of /buyers aifd considerable competition. Prices all round were firmer, but calf- ■ skins were lower by jd to Id per lb. Tallow was firm at last sale price. The range of prices was as follows:— Sheepskins.—Halfbred, 7|d to Gd; fine crossbred, 6|d to 7jd; medium to coarse crossbred, 2£d to 6id; short to half wools, l^d to sid; lambs, IJd to 63d; dead and damped crossbred, ljd to 6d; inferior and, badly damaged, id to 3d ; .pelts,. Id. 110 l^d ; damp, salted,' and fereen, Is 4d to 4s Id; pelts, salted, Is. Hides.—Ox, heavy, 591b/up, 4|d to lid; ox, medium, 501b to 581b, €^d to . lOd; ox, light, 491b and under,'6d to 7£d; cut. slippy,'and inferior, 3d to B|d; cow, heavy, 551b and over,'s£d to 7d; cow, medium, 421b to 541b, 5d to 6^d; cow, light, under 421b, 5-^d to 6|d; cut, slippy, and hiferior, to sgd; bull, stag, 2d to 3fd; yearlings, 111b to 321b, , s»d to BJd; calf, superior, up to 101b, 12id'to 16id; calf, medium to good, up to 101b, 7d to 15£ d; calf, damaged, up to 101b, Id to lid. Tallow.—ln casks, 24s 6d; in tins, etc., 19s to 23s 6d. Sundries.—Opossum skins, 24dj Horse * hair, 13d. .
