COST OF PENSIONS
ALMOST THREE MILLIONS.
The annual report of the Pensions Department shows that at 31st March, 1922, there were in force 54,859 pensions of an annual value of £2,594,618, compared with 57,161 of an annual value of £2,826,311 a year previously.' The gross payments, during the two years were :—
The cost per head of European population was £2 4s 9d this year, and. £2 8s lid last year.
A summary of total actual payments of war pensions to the 31st March, 1922, gives the following information :—
