LOW RETURNS FOR APPLES
(UNITED PRJSS ASSOCIATION.—COPTRIOHT.) (AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 10th July. The Sophocles's Tasmanian apples arrived in fair condition. There was a good demand. Stunners, 14s to'l6s, and a few 16s 6d; Cleopatras and French Crabb, 12s 6d to 14s; Five Crowns, 12s €d to 13s; New York Pippins, 14s _ damp apples, 6s to lis. [These prices must give a very small return to apple exporters, if they do not result in loss, as it costs —from New Zealand, at any rate—over 9s a case for freights, insurance, commission, and other handling charges.]
