WELLINGTON UNION

MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Tho Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union met last evening, Mr.' J. Prendeville presiding. Others present were : Messrs. 1. A. Laws, W J. Hardham, J. Lundon, H. C. Buck, H. M'Leod, J. N. Millard, A. E. Neilson (chairman of the.Wellington Eugby Referees' Association), G. F. Jackson, and F. J. M'Comisky (secretary). As the Selwyn third grade team met with some delay in journeying to Upper Hutt last Saturday, and were, in consequence, unable to fulfil their engagement with Upper Hutt, as the majority of the latter team had left the field, it was decided that the match would not count a . a win by default to Upper Hutt, and that it would be played later in the season if it had any bearing on the championship. W. M'Gill, of- the Oriental Glub, was granted a transfer to the Hantapu Club, Taihape. A fourth grade player, who had been ordered off the field last Saturday week, appeared before the committee, and admitted striking an oponent, though not before he had been struck. He was suspended for two playing Saturdays. Applications for reinstatement were made by G. A. Mummery and A. J. Shields, and it was decided to forward them to the N.Z.R.U. with favourable recommendations. Advice was received of the intention to form a Rugby club at Makara next season. In connection with the protest by the Eastbourne Club against its third grade team's match with Upper Hutt being awarded to the latter team on account of the winning points being scored during extra time which was played, the Referees' Association notified that the referee had admitted that his watch went wrong, and that the winning points had been 6cored during the extra time played (ten minutes). It was decided that the match be declared off, and be re-played if it affected the championship. Some players, who, after reinstatement, went back to League, have been given 14 days in which to provide the union with any reasons why they should not be dealt with. Notification was received from the N.Z.R.U. of the reinstatement of W. Wilson. A request from the Rangitikei Rugby Union for a return match with a Wellington B team at Wellington was held over until definite advice is received from southern unions regarding matches. The Hawkes Bay Rugby Union notified that its party to visit Wellington would consist of twenty players and two managers, Messrs. Findlay and Seed.' Senior fixtures for Saturday week were arranged as follow:—Petone v. Oriental, Athletic Park; Poneke v. 'Varsity, Newto.wn Park; Marist v. Wellington, Kilbirnie; Berhampore v. Selwyn, Duppa-street;,, Athletic v. Old Boys, Kelburn Park.
