MAGISTRATE'S COURT
One first-offending inebriate was dealt with by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Samuel Fenton was fined 5s for drunkenness, and, on a charge of failing to pay maintenance, he was sentenced to a month's imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as he pays £1 12s 6d a week. • . . . • -
William Ward, the ex-CiviL servant, who has a number of. charges against him in connection with documents of the District Land and Deed Registry, was remanded until 13th ■ July. Bail was renewed.
A fine of 40s, in default seven days in gaol, was imposed on William Joint Newman, who was charged with attempting to stowaway on the Mararoa. Benjamin Bronkhorst, charged with attempting to commit a serious, offence against a male, was remanded to appear at Auckland on 7th July. Bail was fixed at £500.
