HIGH PRICES, CAUTIOUS BUYING.

Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. report under date 3rd July :—.

"Butter.—Cabling iunder date ■■ Ist July, London quote: New Zealand 2305, Australian 222s to 2245, and Danish 224s to 2285. Very little business is reported, the high prices , making buyers very cautious. Beneficial rains occurred during the past week, and this, of course, will stimulate production in the United Kingdom and on the Continent. Australian butter, July shipment, is being offered at 196s f.o.b.,,but no business has been done at this figure. The local-price is being increased to-morrow to the retailers to Is ll^d per lb, with' a rebate of jd for fortnightly payments. "Cheese.—New Zealand is quoted at 102s to 104s for while, and 100s to 102s lor coloured. There is very little business passing at these price's, and the London market shows an easier tendency. Canadian is quoted 100s to 102s for white, and 96s to 100s for coloured. This is for cheese on spot, and the forv.'ard. market is rather easier, quotations for prompt shipment—half white and half coloured-—being 96s landed, terms, London."
