In the men's singles at Wimbledon, lO'Hara Wood beat Flaquer, 6-2, 6-4, 11-9; Anderson beat Cbehet, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4. Cochet never extended Anderson, who early found the Frenchman's inability to reach the long drive to his backhand—*a weakness which Atodersoh exploited systematically throughout. Anderson led 3-1 in the first set, then Oochfet, improving, took a love game off Anderson's service. The Frenchman also captured the eighth, which was the longest game. After four deuces Anderson's long and apparently effortless drive to the base line gave him the second set. The was a game up-hill fighter, and led 2-0 in the third set, in which he showed out better through beginning to volley Anderson's drive. Anderson had to work hard in the fifth game, but took the next-three comfortably. In the ninth game Anderson was within a' point of the match after three deuces, but gave ■Cochet another life. He concluded with a love game off his own service. Anderson will meet O'Hara Wood in (the next rotind, and the winner will meet Patterson in the semi-final. . In the ladies' singles Mdlle. Lenglen ■•(beat Miss Colver, 6-0, 6-0, defeating the last Spaniard left in the Wimbledon .competitions. In the second round of the men's doubles Wertheim and Barclay beat the ■brothers Lowe, 8-6, 6-0, 8-6; Patterson and O'Hara Wood beat Campbell and Cafctagli, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
