ANGLICAN SYNOD

i. WELLINGTON DIOCESE. At the conclusion of the opening address of Bishop Sprott yesterday afternoon, a little formal business was done by the Anglican Synod. A letter was received from the secretary of the Anglican Boys' Home, Lower Hutt, inviting members of the Synod and their friends to visit the institution during their stay in Wellington. A Bill to amend the Pensions Fund Act, 1900, was introduced, and read a first time. Committees were elected as follow,: — I Finance Committee, Yen. Archdeacon Johnson, Messrs. G. Shirtcliffe, W. F. Ba-rnicoat, W. H. Madeley, C. R. Honeyfield; No. 2, Revs. W. Fa'ncourt, F. S. Ramson, W. J. Hands, Messrs. J. W. Salmon, W. F. Chambers, G. M. Lethbridge, B. Whitcombe; No. 3, Revs. V. H. Kitcat, O. M.-Stent, H. A. Favell, S. H. Sykes, Messrs. J. A. Hutton, A. J. Rutherford, H. M. Durie; No. 4, Revs. F. H. Petrie, N. S. Barnetfc, Messrs. G. Buckeridge, W. H. Le Fleming,-A.-Matthews,, and C B. Robinson. : A service was held at St. Paul's ProCathedral in the evening. There was a large attendance of both clergy and laity. The Synod sermon was delivered by the Rev. W. C. M'Douall, 8.A., his subject being the outlook of mission work in China. , The Synod will resume this 'afternoon.
