TON CLUB.
Mr. W, J. Gaudin presided over a large attendance of members at the annual general: meeting of the Wellington, Rowing' Club last evening.
The annual report stated that during the year forty members were elected, and it was pleasing to note, judging by the rapid strides the majority had made, that there was a splendid recruiting ground for future regatta, crews. Twenty-three members had resigned, or had; been written-off the books, leaving an active membership, of sixty-seven.1 It is with deep regret that the club records the. death, of Mr. 'Hyde, fatlier of Mr. H. S. Hyde, who was keenly inter. ested, in the club; also, of Mr. G. V. Player, one. of the old members. Mr. H. Redding, one of the vice-presidents, kindly donated a shield for inter-club, competition on opening day, which resulted in keen racing between, the representatives of the three local clubs. The club was successful in" ' securing the shield- The c£ub. may be, regarded as being, in a sounc( finajiqial position. Dur-; ing the year there' was, expended in, repairs to. plant the sum of £116, while new plant was purchased, to. the-valuq of £88. ' This, was only made, possible by the receipt from the dance committeej of £87, the resulting proceeds from last year'-a dance- ' The" Gity" Council wag good enough to relieve, the club from payment of arrears of' rent and rates, amounting to £92, which was incurred during the war. period. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
