SOUTH CANTERBURY FREEZING WORKS.
> . (BT TIIEGRAPH.—PRBSS ASSOCIATION.) "';•" '■"' TIMARU; 3rd July. The Smithfield and Pareora : freezing, works got going to-day with free labour, each with four teams of thirteen men. It took some time to get all going,. but at both works the applicants were nearly all intelligent young men, and they picked up their respective bits of duty well. Each works killed 700 in a short day, with everything cleaned up and skins painted. They expect to do from 1000 to 1200 to-morrow.' Plenty of stock are available. ■ Two union butchers joined in at Pareora.
