NORTHLAND DEBATING SOCIETY
At the fortnightly meeting of the Northland Debating Society the programme was an inter-club debate on Should Bachelors be Taxed?" and the following members participated:—Affirmative. Mr. P. Smethurst, Miss G. Miller, and Miss D. Tighe; negative, Mr. H. Henderson.. Miss B. Hodge, and Mr. J. Cottier. The subject was closely contested, and the judge (Mr. T. A. Barrow) decided in favour of the negative. A prizo donated ' for the best lady speaker of tho evening was presented to Miss B. Hodge. ,
