"THE FATEFUL HOUR"
HIGH-FLOWN PROCLAMATION .OASUSE ASSAILED' BY RECREANT IRISHMEN, ■■•■■•■.■'.'. LONDON,- 30th Junt. The following proclamation, addressed to "Fellow Citizens of the Irish Republic," has appeared : "The fateful hour1 has come. lAt the diotation. of the h«e-' ditary enemy our rightful cause has been (treacherously.assailed by recreant Irish! men. Gallant soldiers of the Irish Republic,. stand rigorously firm in its defence and. worthily uphold, its ..noblest •■traditions.. The sacred spirits of the illustrious dead are .with us in .this, great .struggle. Death, before dishonour, the, .unchanging principle of our 'national ifaith, as of theirs'still inspires us to emulato their glorious efforts.' There-, fore, we appeal to all citizens who have withstood unflinchingly the oppression of the .enemy during. the past six. years to .rally to the support of the Republic. We especially appeal to former comrades to return to that allegiance and thus guard.the nation's, honour from the infamous Stigma, that her sons aided in. retaining ■the' hateful. domination ■■ over her.
