SYDNEY, 20th June. The Commonwealth Bureau of Commerce and Industry has received information that big German steel works are to be established in Java, and that the government of the Netherlands Indies has given big contracts without competition to. the Stinnes group in consideration of the establishment of the works. Coal is to be obtained from Sumatra and iron ore from Java.
