DUTY ON MOTOR PARTS

MELBOURNE, This Day. My. A. S. Rogers, Minister of Customs, denies that Wolseley Motors, Ltd., abandoned their Australian assembling factory because of the action of the Customs Department. lie slates that during the passage of tariff concessions were made on tho representations of the firm, which was permitted to import parts at a reduced duty from places outside the Empire, provided they were assembled into a chassis and not used in repair work. A deposit of £10,000 was not asked for, but a security bond was requested.
